Had to stop on this one. Between the writing style and the rampant misogyny right out the gate, I just couldn't. Perhaps this gets into delightful machinations later on, but when the plot is introduced to me as "oh, those terrible bitches, having all that sex. We should stop them." Well, then, nope. Even knowing that this is set in the 13th century and written in the 1950s, it was harsh enough to make me disconnect from the text, and then nothing about it made me want to reconnect. And there's just too many books out there for me to waste my time on stuff that feels like a chore to read.
